My note about the new USA administration
The recently concluded US election is widely considered a historic turning point, marking significant shifts in political dynamics, changing voter priorities, the unprecedented direct involvement of corporations in the electoral process, and the transformative role of social media as a new and powerful tool in shaping public opinion and electoral outcomes.
On the evening of November 6th, during the final stages of election result counting, I was engaged in a conversation with a friend over the phone regarding the outcome. As our discussion concluded, my 12-year-old daughter, who had been silently observing, interrupted with an expression of confusion and disbelief. She remarked, "How could this happen? Kamala Harris Aunty lost the election, and Trump Uncle became the US President again. Oh my God!"
This moment underscored the challenges of shielding children from the complexities of contemporary politics. Despite my conscious efforts to limit her exposure to the often contentious and polarizing political discourse, it became evident that such events inevitably permeate their awareness. It reflects the unavoidable interplay between domestic conversations and the broader sociopolitical environment, raising important considerations about how to address and contextualize such developments for younger audiences.
As a student of history & contemporary politics, I find it impossible to ignore the outcome of the US election; not only for my own understanding but also for the implications it holds for those around me. Whether we like it or not, the strategies and election in the United States have a global impact, demanding close observation.
Thus, I was keeping a watchful eye on this election as well. While my initial interest was measured rather than enthusiastic, two significant events captured my attention. First incident, Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, an assassination attempt occurred at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The incident unfolded on July 13, 2024, when a shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage. Trump sustained a minor injury, with a bullet grazing the upper part of his right ear. The U.S. Secret Service quickly neutralized the attacker, who was killed during the altercation. Tragically, one rally attendee was killed, and another was seriously injured.
The second event was the mounting pressure on President Biden to withdraw his candidacy for the 2024 Presidential election due to his age and unable to speak his mind loud & clear, a moment that revealed deep divisions within the Democratic Party and reflected broader questions about leadership, strategy, and voter sentiment. When almost at the end of July 2004, Kama Harish nominate as candidate for the Presidential post. This was kind of beginning of different election campaign by the democratic camp, Initially there we huge media excitement for Harish camp, but at the same time, silent questions were in the democratic party’s camp, the way Kamala being ask to be candidate.
Now there were fight between Kamala Harish, who has just three months for her campaign, to fight the presidential election with the man, who himself declared his candidature in just after 2020 election. And, he has been campaign day and nights for last four years.
Finally, on January 20th, Donald Trump officially assumed office as the President of the United States of America (USA) with grand celebrations. Through his initial executive orders, Trump has made it clear that he embodies a modern form of fascism and classic authoritarianism. His close associations with oligarchs and digital dictators, who openly supported him both before and after the election, raise significant questions. I wonder how modern political scientists will redefine the term "oligarch" in 2025, especially in a context where capitalists are openly collaborating with state executives—contrary to the past, when they operated behind the scenes to influence governance.
The far-reaching impact still to be seen with the policies and program of the Trump, like geo-political impacts on the global orders, the wars on the ground and historic conflict in the West Asia, the trade battle with the China and their associates. In addition, the future of the many global treaties / agreements, one such is Paris agreement on the climate crisis. The USA formally exited the agreement on November 2020 but President Joe Biden Signed an order to rejoined on January 20221. Now, there will be difficult situation of the world leaders to handle the climate questions, now time will take, how the rest of the world reacting with the current situation.
